Recap from the Nordic and Baltic Members’ Meeting in Copenhagen

Last week we had the annual pleasure to meet up with the Nordic and Baltic member firms of MSI Global network in sunny Copenhagen. Besides enjoying the exceptionally warm September weather and smorrebrod lunch, the meeting was fruitful also professionally.

For our firm the occasion was a perfect opportunity to introduce our new name, Edelle Attorneys at Law, and our new brand image to our network. We all got to listen to the presentation of the CEO of Heimstaden, one of the Europe’s leading residential real estate companies, about the current market in the Nordic countries. In the afternoon we broke into discussion groups and the discoveries made during those discussions offered us precious things to take back home.

AI is not a unique topic nowadays for a conference. However, it was truly beneficial to exchange thoughts about the use of AI solutions in practice in a middle size law firm or accounting firm. Usually one hears about the theoretical opportunities and threats of AI but now the discussion was about the experiences in real life practice. I am confident that all of the attendees have better means to use AI solutions in future in their work than before the trip to Copenhagen.

One of the discussion themes was employment law and HR. One could think that employment laws in the Nordic would be relatively close to each other but that is not the case. We were able to plan on a road map to our customers doing business in various countries in the Nordic and Baltic area to give them guidance on the main distinctions between the relevant jurisdictions.

ESG is naturally a hot topic for the accountants of large corporations but we discussed about the inevitable challenges that the ESG regulation is going bring to the SMEs and how we are going to be able to assist our client to confront such challenges.  Excellent ideas were shared and we are all now better equipped to support our client to get started on sustainable business practices.

All in all, we were able to return to our desks pockets full of sunshine and heads full of new ideas. I would say that it pretty much fulfils the criteria of a successful business meeting.
